five minute friday: table |homesick

My first five minute Friday post.

This Thanksgiving was so very different for me. I am 2000 miles away from my huge family (parents, sister, aunts, uncles etc)for the first time in 25 years.

My husband and I celebrated this holiday in our small cozy apartment in Los Angeles. We invited one of his friends and had a wonderful, tasty, and chatty Thanksgiving dinner. Our table was full of a whole Chicken( didn’t feel like spending a while day hassling with a turkey), sides of baked veggies, and a Trader Joe’s pumpkin pie.

This dinner was my first official Thanksgiving I cooked. I loved every minute of it. Even if there  was only going to be 2 other people. It was not fancy, but it was delicious and simple.

Sitting around our table, we Face timed both of our immediate families/parents, shared the things we were thankful. It was truly a beautiful evening. Happy Thanksgiving weekend to everyone out there!!

  • Your “table” looks delicious – those peppers and onions around the perfectly roasted chicken – I’d say your first was a success!ReplyCancel

  • The presentation was exquisite. Thanksgiving is fellowship. You nailed it … even 2,000 miles away. Visiting from FMF.ReplyCancel
